System III WATERPROOFING TUNNELS/UNDERGROUND STRUCTURES
A COMPREHENSIVE ENVELOPE DESIGN IN ONE SYSTEM

Features

Slab Protection – The result of the below-slab sheet good or drainage mat.

Cost Effective – Material costs and installation-speed, make this a high quality, vale and performance solution.

Triple Water Protection – All three components of the systems are moisture barriers, thus providing complete system redundancy.

Two Protection Courses – The highly flexible, monolithic, spray-applied membrane which is fully bonded to the walls and roof is protected by the sheet good and drainage composite.

Two Drainage Courses – The drainage composite provides positive side hydrostatic water relief and the slip-sheet good provides hydrostatic pressure reflief on the negative side of the drainage composite, if required.

The Components:

BELOW-SLAB – ECOSHIELD-E15
An extremely tough, non-degrading poly-olefin sheet good that comes in 12ft x 120ft rolls for easy installation with a minimum of seams that protects the slab from moisture from below.

BASE MEMBRANE – ECOLINE-S & R
A spray-applied, high-build, exceptionally flexible, monolithic membrane that is the pliable, completely bonded waterproofing membrane in the system.

MIDDLE MEMBRANE – ECOSHIELD-E10
A puncture and abrasion resistant poly-olefin sheet good that protects the fluid applied membrane from other construction damage and acts as slip-sheet to handle earth movement.

TOP MEMBRANE – ECODRAIN-E
An exceptionally durable yet pliable drainage composite that comes in 8ft x 65ft rolls which protects the other components, while providing drainage and acting as another water barrier.

The Installation Steps:

Step 1 - Vapor Barrier
• Lay ECOSHIELD in one direction with six-inch overlaps.
• Treat both sides of overlap with ECOLINE-R and compress with a roller.
• Apply ECOSHIELD-Tape along seam overlapping two-inches on each side.

Step 2 – Detailing
• Treat all cold joints (both 90 and 180 degree) by applying a coat of ECOLINE-R, embedding fabric 3-inches on each side of seam in it and then applying a second coat over the fabric.
• Treat all penetrations in the same fashion, except applying 6-inches on to the penetration and field with fabric and ECOLINE-R.
• Treat all tie-holes by brush with ECOLINE-T.
Fill all honeycombs, rock pockets, and missing mortar joints with hydraulic cement or rapid set grout.

Step 3 – Waterproofing Membrane
• Begin the application of ECOLINE-S from the bottom to top, always applying to footer or slab first.
• Spray application should be done in 4ft x 4ft passes to 20-mil build on each pass.
• All interior 90 degree, cold joints should be built up to a cant strip thickness.
• At exterior 90 degree, transition points including the roofline an extra pass should be made to provide a gasket to attach the other components to.

Step 3 – Protection Course
• Begin installing ECOSHIELD on the top horizontally in one direction, attaching temporarily with fasteners, and with six-inch overlaps on vertical and horizontal (top over bottom) seams.
• Treat both sides of overlap with ECOLINE-R and compress with a roller.
• Apply ECOSHIELD-Tape along seam overlapping two-inches on each side.

Step 4 – Drainage Course
• Start from top of structure and attach ECODRAIN-E to the roof and working down the walls to the footer. Secure the drainage mat at 90 degree, transitions and overlaps with appropriate fasteners.
• Overlap drainage mat six-inches at seams by pulling back filter fabric, applying ECOLINE-R, and snapping dimples together. On wall horizontal seams, top sheet should overlap bottom sheet.
