Section 0986000 – Graffiti Resistant Coatings & Section 071000 Water Repellents

  1. PART 1 GENERAL
  1. SCOPE
    1. Water repelling, penetrating coating and graffiti barrier applied to exterior and interior masonry, concrete, and cement plaster surfaces.
    1. QUALITY ASSURANCE
    1. Perform work in accordance with manufacturer’s printed instructions.
  • Maintain one copy of document on site.
      1. QUALIFICATIONS
      1. Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacture of water repellent coatings with five years minimum experience.
  • Applicator: Certified and approved by manufacturer.
      1. SUBMITTALS
      1. Submit product data information.
  • Include details of product description, tests performed, limitations to coating, cautionary procedures required during application, and chemical properties
  • Submit manufacturer’s installation instructions.
  • Submit manufacturer’s certificate that products meet or exceed specified requirements and that their application was according to manufacturer’s recommendation.
  • Submit manufacturer’s certificate that products supplied comply with local regulations controlling the use of volatile organic compounds (VOC).
  • Submit manufacturer’s test and inspection reports.
      1. PRE-INSTALLATION CONFERENCE
      1. Convene a pre-installation conference one week prior to commencing work of this Section.
  • Review installation procedures and coordination required with related work.
      1. FIELD SAMPLE
      1. Apply coating to 24sq. ft area of each surface to be waterproofed and protected where directed by Architect.
      1. WARRANTY
      1. Provide manufacturer’s 5-year warranty for materials.
      1. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
      1. Comply with all current federal, state, and local volatile organic compound (VOC) regulations.
      1. ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
      1. Do not apply coating when ambient temperature is lower than 40 degrees F or higher than 100 degrees F.
    1. PART 2 PRODUCTS
    1. ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS
      1. EPRO Services, Inc. 800-882-1896.
      1. MATERIALS
      1. ECOSIL, a water-based polydimethyl siloxane and polyamino siloxane blend and with the following specifications.

     

    1. PART 3 EXECUTION
    1. INSPECTION
      1. Verify joint sealants are installed and cured.
  • Verify surfaces to be coated are dry, clean, and free of efflorescence, oil, or other matter before application of coating.
  • Beginning of installation means acceptance of substrate.
      1. PREPARATION
      1. Remove loose particles and foreign matter.
  • Remove oil or foreign substance with a cleaner that will not affect coating.
  • Protect adjacent surfaces not scheduled to receive coating.
  • If applied on unscheduled surfaces, remove immediately, by approved method.
      1. FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
      1. Field inspection and testing will be performed.
  • Manufacturer of water repellant coating shall provide the inspection services as required.
      1. APPLICATION
      1. Delay work until substrate has cured or has dried out a minimum of 24 hours.
  • Apply coating in two liberal spray applications from the top down, chasing vertical and horizontal spray overlaps with a roller. The first application is with super concentration (3X) of ECOSIL with 1 hr to 2_ hrs. of curing time (dependent on weather conditions) prior to the second application with extra strength (2X) concentration of ECOSIL.
      1. PROTECTION AND CLEANING
      1. Protect adjacent surfaces from damages and stains.
  • Clean materials from surfaces where inadvertently applied.
  • Protect finished installation.
